Project Information
Stan Bear & Associates conducted qualitative research in the development of a comprehensive question bank to be used by community First Nations Head Start On Reserves Projects in the conduct of a self-evaluation. The Self-Evaluation Question Bank document is designed to assist First Nations Head Start on Reserve Program project sites with basic information necessary for: a) constructing, analyzing and disseminating the results of a pre-designed survey document and b) constructing a set of interview questions and interpreting the meaning or meanings of the interviewees’ answers.
Methodology
Format included questionnaires and interviews (in-person and telephone) as well as focus groups.
Canada / Manitoba Business Service Centre - April 2000
Project Information
Stan Bear & Associates conducted qualitative research to survey First Nations entrepreneurs and business development intermediaries with respect to their familiarity and experience with the Canada/Manitoba Business Service Centre. In addition the research assessed whether or not the client target group felt that the services that were provided were useful, relevant and comprehensive.
Methodology
A questionnaire was designed and tested. Data was collected by in-person interviews, telephone interviews, and mail-in questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted.
First Nations Business Canada - March 2000
Project Information
Stan Bear & Associates conducted an assessment of the overall success and value of the First Nations Youth Business Initiative. The AYBI program was designed to increase capital and management service to First Nations youth throughout Canada. The program is delivered through a network of First Nations Capital Corporations and Community Futures organizations throughout Canada.
Methodology
Included questionnaire development for three target groups, youth clients, service providers and program mentors, file review and analysis, data analysis and policy recommendations.
First Nations Business Canada - September 2002
Project Information
Stan Bear & Associates was engaged to determine if, in fact, there is a demand for venture capital in the First Nations community. Phase one involved a a comprehensive literature review across the study of venture capital in Canada. Phase two of the project involved the development and delivery of a series of detailed interviews designed to target five specific groups, Non-First Nations businesses, First Nations private sector, non-First Nations supplier of capital and government employees.
Methodology
Included in-depth research, analysis of economics of venture capital for First Nations entrepreneurs, questionnaire development and delivery, telephone interviews, in-person interviews, report writing with policy recommendations.

Project Information
Stan Bear & Associates conducted an economic analysis of funding pressures related to the Treaty Land Entitlement Process in Manitoba.
Methodology
Included detailed research and analysis of government documents, in-person interviews with departmental staff, telephone interviews with First Nation’s representatives, economic modeling and policy recommendations.

Stan Bear & Associates conducted qualitative research to determine the need for specialized training programs to meet the unique needs of First Nations Financial Institutions.
